Agenda
Laparoscopic techniques in colon and rectal surgery are increasingly being used to manage an expanding spectrum of surgical colon and rectal problems. There is accumulating data to support these techniques in both oncologic and non-oncologic procedures. Following the success of our Hands-on Cadaveric Course on Minimally Invasive Techniques in Colorectal Surgery last year, we are pleased to conduct a similar one-day hands-on Laparoscopic Hand-Assisted Course in Colorectal Surgery this year. This year's course will consist of intensive lectures, discussions, videos and dedicated hands-on experiences using fresh cadavers under the guidance of local and international faculty, all of whom are experienced laparoscopic surgeons who have performed in excess of a hundred cases each. The programme is limited to 27 surgeons, maximising the hands-on experience with 3 surgeons per cadaver.
Objectives
Participants can expect to :
- Identify the indications and selection of patients best
suited for the laparoscopic approach
- Identify intestinal anatomy as it relates to HALS resection
- Demonstrate the skills and techniques necessary for
- Laparoscopic hand- assisted colectomies
- Learn how experts handle complexed clinical problems in
the laparoscopic field
